Twins!

Miko & Mitzi

Miko and Mitzi are littermates - kittens from the same litter.  We call them "The Twins"! Santa knew that Maddie and Mom needed new kittens after we lost two cats in 8 months - one to old age and the other to a brain tumor. So he left a note on Christmas morning telling Maddie that when she was ready she could go and pick out a kitten from Santa! I am sure you all know that Santa fully supports adopting local pets instead of flying them in from the North Pole.

Miko and Mitzi lived in a rabbit hutch beside a dog run (with loud dogs) before we adopted them. They had very little human interaction before they came to our house. When they first came to our house they hid from us. We gave them a small cage to sleep in which they liked and ran to hide in there when anyone tried to pick them up. After 3 days with us Miko would lay on the couch with us, but still did not like being held. After 10 days with us Mitzi began to trust us and would come out of hiding and Miko could be carried anywhere!

Miko and Mitzi became part of our family December 28, 2008. Miko fully believes that he owns the house and just lets us live there. Mitzi still hides most of the time, but when they house is quiet she will come out of hiding and curl up beside me.
